Editorial 3

Editorial 3 is primarily focused on the production part of the shoot compared to styling. Since I want to pursue styling and production in the future I want some of my shoots to also focus on the “Production” part of the course. This is one of the more “put together” shoots. the model is supposed to be feminine and represents how a “grown” woman should act, look, behave ect.. Which is why I dressed her up in sophisticated clothes. Jemma (The model) is wearing a white corset top from SHEIN and a 1950’s vintage velour maxi skirt one of my friends lent to me. This is the concept board for this shoot. (There will be another blog for all the picture references). For this shoot I made the background myself in my kitchen since it had a lot of spacious room. I used a bunch of newspaper and glue tag to make the background and simply stuck the papers on the wall. I asked the makeup artist to do what she thinks is suitable after I showed her my pinterest moodboard and the outfit. She did a dark smokey eye so it contrasts with the background and the corset top.

Here are some of the pictures from taken from the shoot (these pictures are not going to be in the Zine but just an idea of some of the shots I took). I used flash photography for this shoot as the lighting in my kitchen was just very off and the flash made the background look more prominent.

Here are some of the experimentation I did with the editing of the pictures

For my zine I chose edit 5 since it’s more natural and it goes well with the flash photography. Since there is a lot going on in the background I didn’t want the editing to be to overwhelming. The second edit is simply adding more contrast and a little saturation which doesn’t make the picture look overly edited. I also took some experimental shots using the Nikon digital camera

Since you can see the quality with the Nikon camera is very off. Makes sense since the camera is almost 20 years old and discontinued. Now if quality disortment was part of the shoot i would have just used the digitals but I think the Canon camera lense is better suited for this shoot. These are the final images chosen for the Zine.
